Joann Hartley

December 3, 1935 — November 2, 2018

JoAnn Hartley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Dec. 3, 1935 to Margaret Bickers and Harold Martin.  JoAnn passed away at the age of 83 in Post Falls, ID on Nov. 2, 2018, surrounded by the love of her three children, Jerry P. Hartley Jr., 63, Julie Ann Dewolf, 61, and James L. Hartley, 58.

JoAnn grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and on her grandparents farm in Aurora, Indiana. While living on the farm when her father was in Germany during WW2, JoAnn attended a one room school house.  Something she spoke fondly of often.

Back in Cincinnati, Ohio she met, and eventually married her high school sweetheart, Jerry P. Hartley on Dec. 12, 1952.  They remained together until his passing on Jan. 14, 2014.  Shortly after being married, and having two of their three children, they move to the San Bernardino, California area.   After giving birth to her third, and final child, JoAnn went to work for TG&Y, a department store chain where she managed the office and financial affairs. She enjoyed working and maintained employment for the majority of her life.

After moving to Anaconda, Montana as a result of her husband’s employment transfer, they both were baptized into the LDS Church in the mid 1970’s.  I believe some of her proudest memories were of positions held, and services provided during this time.  She often spoke of friends and activities from this period of her life.

JoAnn is survived by her brother, Gary Martin, sisters, Sharon Hilton and Pam Ellis, children: Jerry P. Hartley Jr., Julie Ann Dewolf, and James L. Hartley.  She also leaves eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

JoAnn was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed and always remain in our hearts!

A service is being planned and information will be updated soon.
