Long time Saratoga Springs resident Nancy Purdy Saunders (88) passed away October 22, 2011 in Post Falls, ID. Nancy was born April 4 , 1923 in Tarrytown, NY to Herschel & Hazel Purdy. Nancy was married on January 19,1946 to her lifetime love, Charles A. Saunders, with whom she is now reunited and rests in the presence of God. Nancy was a very active member in the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church and had a strong desire to serve her God by serving others. She was a teacher for over 30 years and enjoyed being a part of young people's lives and seeing their growth both physically and intellectually. Nancy was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Saratoga Springs. She always felt it was important to give her grandchildren educational gifts. Nancy loved her family very much and always looked forward to welcoming each new grandchild and then great grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Charles H. & Deborah Saunders, grandson Joseph and granddaughter, Lindsay. Also, she is survived by her daughter Elizabeth S. & Dale Sigler, granddaughter Susan & Jeff Bass and great grandchildren, Michael, Elisabeth, Charlotte and David and granddaughter Nancy & Chris Hensley. She is survived by her sister, Betty Darcy and brother in law George. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. As a token of Nancy's willingness to give, she asks that any contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Visitation is Thursday October 27, from 4-6pm at Carmon's Mortuary in Windsor, CT. Services immediately follow that evening. Burial will be Friday, October 28, 2011, at 11:30 am at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Tarrytown, NY in the family plot.
