Diane Braun

September 30, 1949 — February 18, 2012

On Feb 18, 2012, the Feast Day of St. Bernadette of Lourdes, Diane Marie Braun, 62, went to meet Our Lord while residing at Ivy Court Extended Care Center. Diane was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on September 30, 1949 to Zdena and Otakar Hajek. She grew up and attended school in her beloved Prague. In August 1966 her family defected, due to religious reasons to Austria and after 6 months arrived in Vancouver, BC, Canada. In a short while she started working as a nurse's aide at Mount St. Joseph Hospital in Vancouver, until her marriage to Daniel Braun on August 15, 1985. Diane and Daniel lived in Richland and Pasco, Washington for the next 18 years. During that time they were blessed to receive two daughters into their home, Teresa and Maria. In 2003 the family moved to Rathdrum, Idaho where they have resided until her death. Diane is survived by her husband, Daniel of Rathdrum ("I will miss you Zdeninko"). She is also survived by her daughters Teresa Emmot of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Maria Braun of Newman Lake, Washington, four grandchildren, her sister Yvonne Michael, nephew Mark Ignacz and niece Stephanie Quissy. She will be missed by her family, her very close friends and those she was blessed to serve in her many capacities. Diane, may you rest in peace and enjoy all the beatitudes that you are granted in Heaven. A Rosary and Funeral Mass will take place at 11 am Saturday, February 25, 2012 at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Chapel, 773 N. 11th St. in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Following the services, burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls, ID.
