Larry G Bach

May 23, 1946 — February 15, 2023

Larry (Bubba) Bach Family man, mountain lover and poet. Born in Texas, Bubba joined the navy after high school and served on USS Henry Tucker during the Vietnam War. After he came out of the navy, he completed a degree in English Literature in Long Beach using the GI Bill. After this he moved to Colorado, where he met Kit, who was the love of his life, and shared his love of literature, nature and mountains. He never had any children of his own, but took on Kit’s daughters and stepdaughters with an open heart. He and Kit married in 1983 and spent the next 37+ years travelling the world and sharing their love of family, hiking and literature. Their greatest hiking achievement was hiking Mt. Whitney. He was a quiet family man, never feeling the need to socialize much or have many friends, but those he did have, were terribly dear to him. His grandsons would often spend spring and summer breaks with them, and his favorite time was when his grandsons would say: “take us to the video store, grandpa!”. This was inevitably followed by ice cream, popcorn and a long video fest. When he and Kit retired, they moved to Arizona, which was essential for Kit's health, but after her death, he moved to Spokane to be near family and to build his last home in the mountains. Sadly, he did not live many years to enjoy this home near family, but he chased his dream of being a mountain poet and family man to the end. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, grandsons, great-granddaughters and friends. It is his last wish that his family scatter their ashes together in Colorado, where he and Kit met. A quiet man, solitary, but never lonely, he had no regrets and felt surrounded by love. Sleep well, Bubba, in the knowledge that you are reunited with Kit.
