Obituary of Ronald James Mills

Ronald James Mills (Jimbo), 59, from Rathdrum, Idaho, Passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2022, at his home in Rathdrum, Idaho Was born in Newport Beach, California February 22, 1963, to James Mills and Nadine Knight. He had two brothers, Joe and John, and three sisters, Jennifer, Dana, and Amber. The family lived in California, and he eventually moved to the state of Washington which he dearly loved. One of Jimbo’s favorite stories is that he saw Desiree on the school bus and instantly fell in love. He said, "I’m going to marry that girl". His declaration became a reality after dating four years and finally marrying Desiree in 1986. Jimbo and Desiree went on to have 3 beautiful daughters, Terra, Kayla, and Stephanie. Jimbo was a carpenter by trade, a skill he learned from his father in his youth. He went on to join the Carpenters Local 30 Union, where he was a proud member since 1988. Jimbo was a perfectionist at everything which enhanced his carpentry skill to the point that he was able to build two custom homes from the ground up with the help of the Bauman brothers and family. He accomplished all this while working a full-time job and supporting his family. After all that, Desiree and Jimbo made the decision to relocate their family and move to Coeur d’ Alene Idaho in 1999. Jimbo had a work ethic like no other especially when it came to providing for his family. He commuted from Coeur d’ Alene to Seattle for his job for 19 years. There were countless holidays he spent 15 hours or more sitting in the car only to be turned around to have to do it all over again due to pass conditions. The thing Jimbo loved the most was the outdoors, which he enjoyed sharing with his family He loved 4 wheeling, camping, hunting, and fishing. He had a tremendous sense of direction, and he knew all the mountainous trails like the back of his hand. His favorite spot was Canfield Mountain which will eventually be his final resting place. One of Desiree and Jimbo’s favorite past times was to take their beloved and spoiled dogs hiking on the logging roads and walking the prairie fields. Jimbo had a huge collection of music that spanned from Johnny Cash to hard rock. His favorite band was Led Zeppelin, and his favorite song was Stairway to Heaven. Jimbo loved to play a game while driving in the car listening to music with Desiree where he would ask her “who’s this?” To which Desiree would almost always answer “I don’t know.” He had the most creative clues to help her guess who the artist was and the song title. He liked to give everybody a nickname and loved to create a little jingle for the grandkids. Most often Jimbo would be heard throughout the house belting out songs and making his own rendition of popular tunes. He is survived by his wife Desiree Mills. His eldest daughter Terra Shishido and her husband Christopher Shishido. His middle daughter Kayla Scott and her husband Robert Scott. His youngest daughter Stephanie Kendrick and her husband Ian Kendrick. His 11 grandchildren Nickolas, Savannah, Joshua, Benjamin, Braeden, Alexander, Sebastian, Lilyanna, Layla, Silas, and Brantley. His father James Mills and mother Nadine Nixon. His older brother Joe Mills and younger brother John Mills. His younger sisters were Jennifer French, Dana Bultez, and Amber Mayer. And many lifelong friends, in particular, the Bauman brothers. As a family, it gives us great peace and comfort knowing that Jimbo accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, and we will be united in heaven with him someday.
