Thomas Edward Owens, 89 of Post Falls, ID passed away on December 16, 2021. He was born July 22, 1932 in St. Louis Missouri, MO. to his Mother Hilda Owens (Suttmoeller) and Father Edward Owens.
He attended St. Gabriel grade school and liked playing soccer. He also went on to play in his high school years.
Tom attended McBride Catholic high school & graduated from Southwest high school.
Knowing he would be drafted he joined the US Navy in 1950, served on the USS Picking a Navy Destroyer and saw the world during the Korean war. He served 2 years and returned home. He received an honorable discharge June 1954.
He then felt the Lord call him and became a Franciscan Brother for 2 yrs.
Tom started a career in the printing industry from which he retired.
We all know God calls the shots and thru his divine intervention & providence Tom met Shirley. Shirley was a Sister of St. Joseph for about 5yrs. What are the odds Brother meets and marries a Nun?
At some point he became an AVID St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. I would send him a Cardinal schedule every year so he could cheer them on.
Beloved husband of Shirley Ann (Self) Owens. Brother of Eileen Bertani, uncle, brother-in-law and cousin.
Tom was a loving, caring man dedicated to the Lord and truly loved Shirley. He had a gr8 sense of humor and could really make U laugh. He treated people with dignity & respect. He loved life and is now in the arms of Our Lord.
My dearest love, I hope and pray that we will meet again in our heavenly home.
