Sadie Shay Christensen

May 29, 2000 — December 24, 2021

Sadie Shay Christensen, age 21, beloved daughter, sister and friend, passed away on December 24, 2021, after a heroic battle with mental illness. Sadie was welcomed into the world by ecstatic parents Keith and Janea (Thompson) Christensen on May 29, 2000, in Fountain Valley, CA. Her arrival made the couple a family and infused their home with love. Sadie was soon joined by three younger siblings whom she whole-heartedly adored and delighted to spend time with. Sadie grew up in Western Washington and lived in several cities but spent her prominent growing up years in Maple Valley, WA. It was here that Sadie discovered her love of acting and choral singing. She developed deep relationships with peers and teachers who mentored and shaped her. Sadie starred in many school plays and participated in the Tahoma High School’s Chamber Choir which was one of the most joyous experiences of her life. Sadie moved with her family to Liberty Lake Washington at the age of 17 where she attended Central Valley High School. After graduation, Sadie attended BYUI for a year after which she was hired as a performer in a summer season of music theater at Playmill Theater in Yellowstone. Following this experience, Sadie moved to Bellingham Wa, then returned to Spokane, Wa where she became a certified peer mentor and obtained full-time work supporting and counseling adults and youth in crisis. A respecter of all living things, Sadie cherished plants and animals and had a special connection with her pets. She adored the mossy forests and misty beaches of Western Washington and always longed to be there. Art and music were a part of Sadie’s soul and she seemed to have endless capacity in this area. She brought joy to many through her artistic creations and beautiful singing voice. Her greatest achievement in this life was the cultivation of her kind and compassionate heart which she freely shared with all who knew her. Sadie is survived by her parents, Keith Alan Christensen and Janea Thompson Christensen, her sisters Kamry and Brynlee, and her brother Dallin, all residents of Liberty Lake, WA. She is also survived by three grandparents, eighteen aunts and uncles, and forty-two cousins. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, January 8th at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 21022 E Wellesley Ave, Otis Orchards, WA 99027.
