Dennis Lee Brittain

February 8, 1948 — April 21, 2021

Dennis Lee Brittain was a caring father, grandfather, brother, and friend. With his head warmed by his favorite stocking cap, cleanly shaven beard, belly full of his favorite vanilla frosty from Wendy’s and surrounded by his loved one’s Dennis passed away on April 21, 2021 at the age of 73 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Dennis was born to Noel and Vivian Brittain on February 8, 1948 in Twin Falls, Idaho. In high school, he was junior class president and his tall, gangly build led him to play basketball and run track. After graduating from high school, he completed a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Idaho. Being a lifelong learner, he returned to City College to complete a dual Master’s degree in Business Administration and Public Administration. Dennis was a jack of all trades and traveled the world. While living in El Salvador he became fluent in Spanish and met the mother of his children, Antonietta. Throughout his life he was a building inspector, accounting administrator, teacher, writer, and life coach. He will be remembered for his faith, quick wit, worldly stories, guidance and advice, quirky personality, and strange inventions like using an archery armguard as a cell phone holder! One of Dennis’s favorite bible verses was Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence do not rely; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.” This is exactly how he chose to live his life. By far Dennis’s greatest accomplishment and passion was his children who inherited his sense of humor, height, love of learning, and octopus’ arms (e.g. big hugs from tall people). He once said he had lived many different lives. This rings true for his family as he was able to morph into a different figure that each of them will forever remember. Dennis is survived by his sisters, Phyllis and Norma; and his many children and grandchildren including Lucianna, Neil, Jack and Chloe Fender; Troy, Devin, Addison and Callum Brittain; Camilla, Tomas, Kade and Kylee Hernandez; Christopher Brittain and Kristen Hamblin; Natalie and Travis Dreyfoos; Teshua, Jonah and Jace Brittain; Mike Sullivan and family. Dennis will be honored at a funeral service to celebrate his life at 12:30 pm on June 11, 2021. The service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224.
