Wilma Louise Wiggins

Wilma Louise “Laura” “Butchie” Wiggins 1943-2021 Laura was a unique, quiet soul who loved her family and friends dearly. She passed away quietly among family. She was very passionate about knowledge and loved to teach and minister. She was a talented watercolor artist but hid this from everyone. And her odd sense of humor entertained those around her and is one of the many things about her that will be missed. She loved flowers, pink sweetheart roses and daffodils in particular, and big band music. But her favorite song was “In the Garden.” For decades, she carried her favorite poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye in her wallet for this occasion: Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. As a “Navy Brat” there was never any place that she really called home. Home to her was where her family was. She had very fond memories of many places that she lived in her lifetime, like Japan, Pennsylvania, Washington, Illinois, California, Texas, Colorado and finally Idaho. But though never having lived there, she had a particular fondness for Hawaii. Now she is finally Home. Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Oma Key Champ and her biological father Jack Dominic Conidi, and by her brother Robert Grant Champ and sister Katherine Champ Brown. She is survived by her sister Sandra Manasco, and her sons Jerry D., Michael S., and Robert B. Sparling and daughter Carla K. Conidi. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda, LaJess, Chanel, Jacob, Chloe and Kailey, as well as 6 great-grandchildren. She was a very beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all.
