Obituary of Wesley Clyde Lindsey

Wesley Clyde Lindsey was born August 2, 1927, in Redding, California, to Clyde and Eldeen Lindsey. Wes, as he was affectionately called, grew up in Montgomery Creek, California, where he started driving logging trucks at age 16 for his father. He was so young when he began driving truck that his grandfather had to ride with him on some of his trips. He drove the local school bus during his high school years. Wes served in the Army in World War II in Osaka, Japan. He received an honorable discharge in 1947. He received a World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. After the Army, Wes used the GI bill to go to college. There he again drove a school bus, this time to help pay for his living expenses while attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. He worked the summers for his father driving truck to pay for his tuition. He graduated from Cal Poly in 1951 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. He drove cattle trucks with his brother Elton after graduating until he went to work as a USDA food inspector. Wesley met his wife Donna Mae Sealey in Manteca, California. They were married in 1955. They began their life together in Salida, California. They moved in 1958 to San Jose, California, where he took a job as a soil scientist for the USDA. They transferred to Atascadero, California, in 1968 and then to Cottonwood, California, in 1978. He retired from the Federal Government in 1986. At that time, he returned to his passion of driving lumber trucks with his brothers until fully retiring in 1992. Wes moved to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, in 2012. Wes and Donna had two daughters. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended church and was a Christian man. Wes enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, traveling, camping, time with his family, and classic country music. He enjoyed playing guitar at the senior citizen homes and assisted living homes in Coeur d’ Alene. Wesley Clyde Lindsey passed from this world December 30, 2020. He was 93. He was a kind, loving, gentle and care giving man. “…The gift of god is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” ~ Romans 6:23 He is survived by his daughter Danielle Wills and her husband, Mike, of Rathdrum, Idaho; his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Lee Stephenson of Bella Vista, California; grandchildren: Tashia Spradley of Imlay, Nevada; Peter Schmitz and wife, Barbara, of Chico, California; Holly Simone of Red Bluff, California; Sara Curtis of Rathdrum, Idaho; great grandchildren: Tyler Schmitz, Connor Schmitz, Ashley von Bargen, Carl Miller, Alexis Stuart, Gwen Simone, Tori Wall, Julia Hagenbarth, Thomas Hagenbarth, and Joshua Curtis; great great grandchildren: Nathaniel Schmitz, Tyrion Schmitz, and Zenna Wall. Wes was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Eldeen Lindsey, wife Donna Lindsey, brothers Elton Lindsey and Eugene Lindsey, and his daughter Cheryl Schmitz.
