Lucille was born July 19th 1930 in a small log home in Cocolala, Bonner County Idaho to Martha Christopha Olson and Frank Jerome Green who migrated from Wisconsin. Her folks moved to Harrison Idaho where she attended the elementary school there with her brothers and sisters.  Her family later moved to  Coeurd’Alene  where she completed her primary grades and attended the Coeurd’Alene High School .  Lucille loved exploring the woodlands and swimming in the lakes and rivers of Northern Idaho.  On 6 December 1947 She Married Fred Charles Chaffins {Warren} a Marine Corp Veteran. Together they had three daughters. Lucille had the indomitable spirit of a true pioneer , following her first husband into the wilderness of Alaska making a home for her family in the land of the midnight sun. She and her family were living in Nome the day Alaska became a state where they attended the Iditarod, blanket toss and other celebrations with the local natives. After her divorce she met and married Henry Scheller a long time resident of Coeurd’Alene.  Together they had a son, Tom Scheller, Henry  a carpenter built and sold homes. In true pioneer fashion she worked alongside him, staining cabinetry, painting walls and preparing the homes for buyers or renters. Lucille was a hard worker. There were times she would climb up on the roof with nails between her teeth and a hammer in hand always beside her husband offering a helping hand.

Lucille was talented and smart. If her sewing machine broke down she would walk to the library check out a book and learn how to fix it. Independent, strong willed and generous she would crochet beautiful colorful afghans for the members of her family and others who were in need.  In 2003 she sent a large box filled with afghans to Cole Elementary School in San Bernardino California so each child in her daughter’s classroom would have a Christmas gift. She received many letters of gratitude for her generous donation.  Lucille is preceded in death by her brothers Earnest, Wallace, Walter and Harvey Green and Sisters Willa,  Beatrice,  Alice  and Dorothy.
