William Joseph Whiteshield Sr.

William Joseph Whiteshield Sr. of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho passed away on April 26, 2019 in Coeur d’Alene after suffering for many years from a long line of illnesses.  He was born on July 21, 1972 in Long Beach, California to Cecil and Helen Whiteshield.

Bill was a member of the Southern Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe in Oklahoma. He loved spending time with his grandparents in Oklahoma where he went and participated in tribal ceremonies with his father.  Bill grew up in Pinehurst, Idaho and later settled in Hayden.

Bill was very artistic, creating Indian art with his father, and for those who knew him well knew he was always filled with big dreams. He liked fishing, taking long rides and drawing. Bill also loved spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his son William Jr. of Alaska; his daughter Ashlie of Billings, Montana; sisters Pamela (Darrell) Sims of Post Falls, Cheryl Shelley of Coeur d’Alene, Tammie (Vern) Moore of Emida, and Anne (Mark) Pruett of Winlock, Washington; brothers Terry (Heidi) Pennington of Smelterville and Richard Nelson of Pinehurst. William is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Helen Marie and Cecil Bruce.
