William Wesley Albert, 69, of Post Falls passed away Tuesday, October 9th, surrounded by family and friends at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho from complications following open heart surgery.
Wes was born in Baltimore, Maryland to George and Virginia Albert on September 20, 1949. He grew up in Spokane, Washington and graduated from North Central High School. He later attended Eastern Washington University. Wes enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in February of 1968. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded multiple awards including the Purple Heart for being wounded during combat. He married Deborah Leigh Cowan in 1973 and they had two children. Debbie passed away in 1984. He later met and married Heidi Arlene Tammi on August 10, 1985 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. They were happily married for 33 years. Wes most recently worked as a manufacturing buyer for AC Data. Wes retired from AC Data in 2005. He was also a dedicated member of the volunteer Rathdrum Fire Department for over 20 years.
Wes enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with his family. He loved listening and dancing to all genres of music. He was an avid and loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. Wes was a family man and as the oldest sibling he was always taking care of others.
Wes was preceded in death by his grandparents Mark and Della Hall and William and Grace Albert, his father George Albert, his mother Virginia Leaf, his brother Matthew Albert and his sister Laura Albert Ponsness.
Wes is survived by his wife Heidi Albert of Post Falls; son Travis (Shirl) Albert of Zuni, Virginia; daughter Rochelle (Bart) Wiedenhoff of Rathdrum, Idaho; brother Mark (Rhea) Albert of Spokane Valley, Washington; sister Dawn Chavez of Mead, Washington; brother-in-law Mark (Rose) Tammi; sisters-in-law Helena Tammi and Karen Cowan; his beloved grandchildren Ashley, Max and Madison Wiedenhoff and Abigail Albert; 13 nieces and nephews; and 19 great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Bell Tower Funeral Home with Dave Ponsness officiating. Reception to follow at the American Legion in Post Falls.
