Marion Wayne Wagner, 72, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully January 8, 2023, at Hospice of North Idaho’s Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene. He was born July 3, 1950, in Enid, Oklahoma. Wayne’s family moved to Lemoore, California in 1961 where his father worked at the navel air station. He received an AA degree and a certificate in gunsmithing from Lassen college in Susanville, California before moving to San Diego where he met and married his wife, Sue. He resided in Hemet, California for the next 31 years before retiring as Mapping Manager in 2005 from Eastern Municipal Water District.
Wayne was a skilled machinist, welder and gunsmith, and was a passionate gardener and student of military history. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hemet where he taught Sunday School. His favorite pastime was “bustin’ clay birds” at gun clubs in Hemet/San Jacinto Valley and the Coeur d’Alene area. Wayne loved and cared for many animals, both wild and domestic, throughout his life. He loved folk music, playing guitar and singing, and attending operas and concerts. He was a gifted artist as well.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Sue, daughter Annelise Boyington of Hampden, Maine, son Simon Wagner of Post Falls, sister Karleen Wagner Good of Lemoore, California, brother Michael Wagner of Las Vegas, Nevada, four grandsons, Alexander, Caleb, Zachariah, and Joshua, and two granddaughters, Desirae and Charlotte.
