Wayne Gilman

March 15, 1915 — September 21, 2013

Wayne, " Grandpa" Gilman, born March 15, 1915, joyfully joined Zetta, "Grandma" Gilman for their journey in eternal marriage on Sept. 21, 2013. Dad was born in Burley, Idaho. His family moved to southern Calif. where he spent most of his youth, and met Zetta. They married in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake, Utah on Jan. 13, 1935, and had 76 years together. One of their moves took them to Auburn, Calif. where Wayne drove truck for Laura Scudder Potato chips for a while before working at DeWitt State Hospital. He often said that the only difference between his patients and himself was that he carried the keys. He was a Supervising Psychiatric Technician when he retired in 1969. Mom and Dad traveled until moving to Post Falls, Idaho in 1977. Once in Post Falls they had a passion for doing temple work and genealogy that kept them busy and smiling. In Mom's last years, Dad gave her unsurpassed love and care that was totally unconditional. They are now together again. Dad raised three children with the creed, "pay your tithing, pay your bills, and you can live on the rest." He has 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren who will miss him dearly. His family is easy to list, but the people he helped and friends he made are countless. Wayne leaves a legacy of being generous to a fault, and a sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met. Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , 1824 East 16th Ave. in Post Falls, Idaho a viewing will be held at 9:30, service at 10:30. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. Services are provided by Bell Tower Funeral Home.
