Shirley Ann Luscher

Shirley Ann Luscher loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Wednesday evening, December 6th, 2023, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at the age of 77 due to complications related to Covid-19. She is survived by her husband, Norman, a brother, 4 children, 3 grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved and cared for her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, a nephew, and parent in-laws.

Born in Los Angeles, Shirley was adopted and grew up in a loving family in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was an avid horse rider and was a flag bearer for the Olympus Mounties. She graduated from Olympus High School and attended Brigham Young University where she met and married her eternal companion, Norman. They had recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. During their life together, they lived in Canada as well as the U.S. – in Washington, Utah, and Idaho. They raised four children, including one of their sons who was adopted from the Kainai Nation.

Naturally creative, Shirley enjoyed quilting, beading, card-making, and in earlier years cross-stitching as well as sewing. More importantly, she was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a lifelong member she served in various church callings including as a Relief Society President in Cranbrook, BC, Canada, and in past years in the Spokane Temple Office. When her daughters were young, she served as a Young Women’s camp counselor. She studied scriptures daily and actively pursued genealogical research.

Shirley also worked in Utah in the ZCMI department store in women’s and wedding dress alterations, at Altaview Hospital, and in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days genealogical record vaults, as well as a stint at a dairy farm.

While she will be sorely missed by her spouse and family, they take comfort in their belief that she is in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and family that have already passed on.
