Sharon Lea (Mattingly) Byers, 75, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho passed away December 8, 2015 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d' Alene. Sharon was born June 2, 1940 in Stockton, California to Wilson and Rita (Harris) Mattingly.
Sharon grew up in Stockton, where she attended and graduated from Franklin High School in 1958. She later attended Delta College, where she earned an Associate’s degree.
While working for the Stockton Unified School District in data processing she met Ted Byers. It was love at first sight and after a three month courtship they were married August 19, 1967. Together they raised their family in Stockton and Lodi, and Sharon eventually worked as a Realtor until her retirement. They then moved to North Idaho settling in Coeur d' Alene.
Sharon had an unshakeable faith in God and was an active member of her church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lodi, California, and Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, Idaho. Sharon cherished her time teaching bible study and fellowship to children.
Sharon was devoted to her husband, loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She loved her country and all that the United States stood for. She was a true patriot. She loved sports and never missed a televised game of the San Francisco Giants or 49'ers. At home, she loved working in her flower gardens and feeding the deer, elk, and wild turkeys. Even though the deer had a habit of eating her flowers, she loved them just the same.
She is survived by her husband Ted of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; two daughters Eileen (David) Blough of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and Sherilyn Byers of Lodi, California; five grandchildren Drew, Lexi, Dillon, Hallie, and Heather; and one brother Jim (Sue) Mattingly of Lodi, California. She was preceded in death by her parents.
