Ruth Esther Selent, loved mother and grandmother, 88 years old was born in eastern Germany on January 3, 1933 to Otto and Eugenia Krueger. Ruth passed away in Coeur d Alene ID on December 16, 2021. She is survived by her son Chuck Selent of Rathdrum ID, sister Edith Teichmuller of Riverside CA and granddaughter Tamara Selent of Post Falls ID. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rudolf Selent in 2013.
Ruth immigrated to the USA shortly after WWII as a displaced person/refugee status. It was on a troop transport ship coming to the US that she first met her future husband Rudy Selent. Ruth came to NY and settled in Brooklynn NY with her mother, father, sister and brother.
She married in 1956 moving to Cleveland OH where her only child and son Charles was born in 1957. In 1961 the young family moved to Southern CA where they made their home and lived until 1979. They then packed up their belongings on a trailer and headed to Idaho where they bought property and built a log home to fulfill their dream of living in the country. They moved to near Bonners Ferry in Boundary County ID and settled on their
dream and forever home on 10 acres, having a massive garden, goats, and chickens. Ruth’s hobbies were her home, sewing, cooking, caning, and baking amazing cakes and pastries, her garden, and animals. She loved animals of all kinds and even tamed the local deer that would come and eat out of her hands. They were her “Bambies”.
She loved Jesus and in her later days would long to “go home” and would express that often, which for her was heaven. She was a very spiritual person which also was
very much her reality and permeated everything she did and talked about. She longed to be reunited with her husband Rudy again, her parents, and siblings where everyone would be healthy and happy once more. Rest in peace loving mother, wife, and grandmother until we all meet again.
