Ronald Duane Olson

September 26, 1938 — January 17, 2021

Ronald Duane Olson Sept. 26, 1938-Jan. 17, 2021 Ronald Duane Olson passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and two daughters by his side on January 17th, 2021. Ron was born on September 26th, 1938 to John and Muriel Olson of Webster City, Iowa. His childhood in Webster City involved playful adventures along Lone Ranger Trail, Jack Rabbit Hill and Kendall Young Park. His high school years were spent playing football for Lincoln High. Ron joined the National Guard and worked as a rifleman and later in transportation. In 1956, he met Elaine Anderson, who was working as a carhop at Bud’s Drive-In. In 1959, Ron married Elaine, the love of his life. They have remained happily in love for 62 years. They had two daughters, Kimberly and Beth, and nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Ron spent his life working side by side with Elaine in missions, evangelism and intercessory prayer. Together they helped raise over 150 children in the years of work as house-parents in children’s homes and youth hostels. They did several outreaches with youth including work with Teen Missions and YWAM (Youth With A Mission). They were also leaders of Intercessors of Alaska, where he was involved in prayer warfare for Alaska and the world. Ron had an evangelistic heart and absolutely loved street ministry. His passion was praying for anyone he met and sharing with them the joy of Christ’s salvation to all. He specifically loved praying for healing. His passion led him into prisons, orphanages and hospitals. He attended many institutes for Bible and ministry training. He graduated as valedictorian of Shiloh Christian Ministries and later became a teacher in the school. In his lifetime, Ron worked both as an ordained minister and a Chaplain. Ron’s ministry took him to several places around the world with a majority of his world outreach being in Africa, both in Liberia and South Africa. He also ministered in Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil. His ministry in the US took him to Virginia, Washington state, Montana, Arizona, Texas, Alaska, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Idaho. Ron carried the love of Jesus to anyone who would listen. He gave of all he had, even taking off his own coat in the winter to give to someone who had none. This simple act of love, he had done several times. He took the sorrows of others to his heart and spent hours before God in prayer for them. Ron loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and mind. Many, around the world, have been changed or healed or touched by the love of Christ within him. Ron adored his wife, Elaine, and honored her and treasured her. He was known to leave love notes for her that she would find in kitchen cabinets, dresser drawers, her work office or on the bathroom mirror. He was blessed by his two daughters, his son in laws, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. His family meant the world to him. He loved people of all walks of life and all colors of skin. He marveled at God’s splendor in nature. He was a bit of a prankster and loved to laugh and bring laughter. Ron loved life and those who had the pleasure of knowing him…loved him in return.
