Robert Frederick Nowels

Robert “Bob” Frederick Nowels, 70, of Spokane Valley, Washington passed away January 9, 2018 at The Hospice House in Spokane, Washington.  Bob was born November 4, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Allison and Eleanor (Story) Nowels. 

Bob attended and graduated from East High School in 1966.  He then graduated from Westminster College where he studied Economics and Business Administration.  Bob met Mary Lou Riley in High School and they were later married August 2, 1968 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  They were married 49 years when Bob passed.

In college, he worked ski patrol in Park City, Utah and raced for the Westminster College ski team.  After graduation, Bob worked as a Sales Executive.  He traveled the world selling equipment for telecommunications.  He finally retired in 2013.

Bob converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and he and Mary Lou were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1974.  He enjoyed working as an ordinance worker in the Spokane Temple. He loved serving in the Bishopric for the YSA ward, as well as various roles in the Boy Scouts. 

He enjoyed boating, rafting, golfing, and traveling, but mostly Bob loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou Nowels; six children Allyson (Todd) Devenish of Spokane Valley, Washington,  John (Shawna) Nowels of Newman Lake, Washington, Jane Wilcox of Spokane Valley, Washington, Rob (Michelle) Nowels of Missoula, Montana, Amanda (Clinton) Dowland of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Joe (Katy) Nowels of Spokane Valley, Washington; three siblings Michael (Suzanne) Nowels of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bill (Lauren) Nowels of Eureka, California, and Carolyn Moore of Boise, Idaho, and 20 grandchildren.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held Saturday January 20, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints East Stake Center 13608 E. 40th Ave. Spokane Valley, WA.
