Randolph Paul Glass

Randy Glass, 73, of Post Falls, ID, passed away peacefully on March 3rd surrounded in full love by his family. Randy, and his three little sisters, lived in Chicago and Spokane with his parents, Adolph and Lori, before the family moved to the Los Angeles area. It was there that Randy’s life path was laid out ahead of him after graduating high school. He attended Pierce College and joined the Sigma Delta Fraternity where “The Ran” had, and met, many of his closest friends to this day. Randy left California to serve in the United States Army from 1966-68 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Rifle Expert. When he returned home to CA, little did Randy know that he’d meet his future wife, Lisa, and that they would share the next 43 years together creating a beautiful life spent mostly in the sleepy beach town of San Clemente, CA. There they raised three beautiful daughters that Randy couldn’t have loved more fully, or have been more proud of, as he reminded them of constantly. Randy was one of the fortunate few whose passion overlapped perfectly with his profession. He had the opportunity to enter the motion picture industry early on and found his calling. As he grew in the film industry, he spent the majority of his 40+year career as a Gaffer / Chief Lighting Technician. He worked on many films, commercials, and TV shows over the decades including: The Long Goodbye, Thieves Like Us, Nashville, Rhinestone, Explorers, Gremlins 2, Cannonball Run, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Criminal Minds, plus many, many more. He truly loved his career and excelled at it and made the difficult decision to retire in 2009. It was shortly after that time that he and Lisa decided to follow family and retire to Northern Idaho where they spent the last 5 years of his life. Randy lived a life that was true to who he was and what he believed in most – one of integrity, self-sacrifice, humor, strength in the midst of adversity, a strong work ethic, having dreams and working to make them come true without fear and knowing there would be sacrifice involved, and with a love and passion for his family that he showed even in his last moments. He was a great storyteller and humble in his accomplishments and achievements (unless they were related to his girls or grandson). A lover of music – singing in his massive bass or cutting a mean rug on the dance floor. A voracious reader. A believer in right and wrong and standing up for that at every turn. A devoted, passionate, and loving husband. Randy leaves behind a family that misses him fiercely. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his three daughters Brandi, Brieann, and Brittany; his sisters Lonnie and Romelle (and their families); his “sons” Geoff and Jon; his most precious grandson, Wyatt, as he affectionately called “our baby”; and extended family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lauren, niece Alisa, and brother-in-law Steve.
