Patricia Spencer-Nauheim

Patricia Ann Spencer, 76 of Post Falls, ID passed away at home on May 18, 2020. She was born April 9, 1944 in Managua, Nicaragua to Anita Fraumberger Spencer and Donald Spencer. Pat grew up in Nicaragua however she came to the US in 1955, to attend school in Spokane, WA. She was bilingual in English and Spanish. Patricia attended high school at Westlake school for girls in Beverly Hills, CA. She later attended USC where she graduated with a BA in business marketing in 1966. She married James L Thomson in 1962 in Nicaragua. They lived in Southern California for a few years while they both finished college and Jim finished his residency. They moved to Santa Rosa, CA in 1968 where she gave birth to son James S. Thomson in 1973 and daughter Jami K. Thomson (Luttge) in 1976. She was a fiercely protective mother...they may have coined the term "Mama Bear" after her! They enjoyed a very adventurous life togeher travelling all over, flying airplanes, attending horse races to watch horses run that they owned with friends, and socializing with their vast group of friends. Pat and Jim were married until around 1980 and maintained a close friendship following their divorce. In 1996, Patricia married an old friend, Robert M. Nauheim. After nearly nine years of marriage, they amicably separated and remained friends until his death in 2005. Patricia, also known as Patsy, Trish, Pat, Mom, and her favorite title, Grandma, was a devout patriot and always exuded her love of America. She and James attended the inauguration of President Reagan and VP George Bush in 1981 as members of the Republican Eagles. She was a dedicated Republican and always flew the American flag proudly. She even lovingly named her car "Big Red" and adorned it with her beloved American flag stickers. Pat could do anything she set her mind to. She and husband James always shared a love of flying. She grew up flying in personal aircraft in Nicaragua with her father who had the first pilot's license ever issued in Nicaragua. Patricia earned her own pilot's license in 1973 in California. She really loved flying and was so incredibly proud of son Jim who also obtained his pilot's license in 1993. He went on to earn his instructor and commercial pilot ratings. Her face would just light up every time she got to fly with him. Her favorite plane was N824CP, a C55 Baron twin engine plane that was really a family member, or more affectionately known as "Charlie Papa". Hobbies she enjoyed throughout her life included exercising ...to the tune of multiple classes a day in the Jane Fonda era, step classes, jazzercise, etc. She was an avid tennis player and the most incredible gardner known to man. She could grow and or revive any plant, anywhere, anytime. It was as if she could communicate with them and breathe life into them. Some of her favorite past times included throwing tennis balls for her favorite doggies. In fact, she is probably playing ball in Heaven with Tango and Casey while Buck, Max, Sam, Lance, Lance 2, Cappy, Charlie, Bugs, and others keep her company. She is surely spoiling them all with unlimited amounts of puppy treats. There was never a dog that didn't love her and never a dog that she crossed paths with that wasn't spoiled rotten with love by her. Patricia worked in the wine industry in Sonoma County for many years during the prime of her life. She was passionate about sharing her knowledge of wonderful wines while working in the tasting rooms at both St. Francis Winery and B.R. Cohn Winery. In 2005, Pat moved from Santa Rosa, CA to Post Falls, ID to be close to her kids and grandchildren, more lovingly known as her "goslings". One of her favorite things to do was to go out to breakfast or lunch with her loved ones. She loved to go out to eat with everyone so that she could spend time with them and visit. It wasn't ever about the food because she never ate much and always took a to-go box for the doggies. Anytime she visited her grandkids, she always brought amazing treats whether it was doughnuts (always Texas size and mostly maple), sandwiches, sandwich style cookies, and even her famous oatmeal hotcakes. Patricia had many fun adventures in her lifetime including dancing with Ritchie Valens! She left us too soon but we will never forget the words of encouragement she shared and lived by.... "DON'T EVER GIVE UP" "GOD IS ALWAYS WITH YOU" "THIS TOO SHALL PASS" "GOD ALWAYS HAS A PLAN" She always lived true to her faith in God and his love for each and every one of us. Patricia is survived by son James "Jimmer" Spencer Thomson and wife Kimberly "Kimmy" Thomson, grandchildren Brooke "Brookie" and Joshua "Joshy" Thomson, daughter Jami "Jami Kate" Kathleen Thomson Luttge and husband Douglas "Dougy" Luttge, grandchildren Briana "Breezy", Emma "Emma J", Graci "Gracita" or "Graci Bear", and Douglas "Mr. Douglas" Luttge, ex-husband and best friend James L. Thomson, brother Donald Spencer and wife Lucy, nephew Donald Michael Spencer, nieces Evelyn, Iko, Kimberly, and Luisa Spencer, sister-in-love Ildiko Cohen, sister-in-law Elsa Spencer, nephews John, Kevin, and Robert Spencer, and half sister Donita Enright. She is also survived by her favorite doggie grandchildren Bo, Moose, Tank, Duke, and Snoop.
