Norma M Segoria, 95 passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Hospice House of Coeur d'Alene surrounded by her family.
Norma was born in Vallejo, CA on April 24, 1918 to Malio and Mary Caprini. She grew up as part of a large Italian family. She graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1936.
She grew up wanting to become a hairdresser. While in high school, she charged her friends 25 cents to style their hair. She attended cosmetology school in San Francisco, making a daily round trip commute via train, ferry and bus. She later worked at a local hair salon in Vallejo.
She married her high school sweetheart William (Bill) Connick in 1941. They had one daughter, Joan, before he was killed in action during World War II.
She later married James Lambert, and they had one daughter, Jane. She was then widowed a second time in 1971.
She spent many years enjoying her family, friends and hobbies. She loved needlework and various crafts. She volunteered for many years with the Catholic Social Service organization. Norma was a longtime member of St Basil The Great Church in Vallejo, California.
After attending her 50th class reunion, Norma renewed her friendship with an old classmate, Fermin (Bud) Segoria. They married in 1988 and enjoyed traveling, golfing and time with their families and friends. Sadly, after only 2 years Norma was once again widowed. She spent the next few years traveling the world and enjoying her family. In 2001 Norma moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID to be with her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Joan (Dave) Fister and Jane (Randy) Thomas of Coeur d'Alene. She is also survived by her grand-daughters Joanne Fister and Janet (Steve) Bradford and great-grandchildren Jacob and Abbey Waterdown, Riley Thomas, Brady and Kelsie Bradford and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Anne Corbett & Elizabeth Cavanagh and many life-long friends.
Norma's family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff at the Courtyard Coeur d'Alene for the loving and compassionate care that she received during the last 6 years. Her family also appreciates the loving care they provided at the Hospice House during her final days.
The Funeral service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11am, with a reception to follow in the church hall.
