Nancy Seher

Nancy Seher, 86 passed away May 25, 2012 after a 30 year battle with breast cancer. She was born to parents Henry and Esther (Morris) Bergdorf on March 30th, 1926 in Great Falls, Montana. They lived in Big Sag, MT. where she attended first grade. The family moved to Priest River, Idaho in 1933. She attended Thama Ferry Elementary School and graduated from Priest River High School in 1943. She received a tuition scholarship from Northwestern Business College in Spokane. She transferred to Kinman Business University and finished an 18 month course in 9 months earning a degree in Business Administration in 1944. This was a traumatic year for the family. A brother, Charles, drowned in an accident. A short time later her father became disabled and another brother was killed in action in WWII. Nancy returned home to help manage the farm. While unloading a box car of baled hay, she was interviewed for her first job. The owner of Jones Garage, a Chevrolet dealership in Priest River, asked if she would like the job as bookkeeper. She worked there for 3 ½ years. In 1947 she moved to Spokane to become the office manager for Guthrie Construction. She also worked for Electric Smith, Power City Electric, and Ben H. Simpson Contractor over her long career. In 1948 she met the love of her live Andrew A. Seher. They were married in 1949 and had 4 children. In 1971 the Family moved to Post Falls. Her home was always a gathering place and was always open to friends and family. She was active in the community and was treasurer for the Post Falls Senior Center. She was also a member of the Friends Church and for several years put together the Church Bulletin for Sunday service. In 1988 she retired. On the same day that she applied for social security benefits her husband, Andrew, suffered an aneurysm and passed away. She took a part time job as bookkeeper at Western Sensor and also kept the books for her son's business Advanced Reliable Cleaning after retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Esther Bergdorf. Brothers Charles and Edward Bergdorf, Sister Vivian Remmick and husband Andrew Seher. She is survived by her four children, Kathy, Gary (Rochelle), Paul (Lisa), and Steve Seher all of Post Falls. Eight Grandchildren, six Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00A.M. Saturday June 2, 2012 at River of Live Friends Church, 3263 E. 12th Ave. Post Falls with Bell Tower Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
