Mildred (Millie) Sutton, 89
Mildred Gladys (Sweitzer) Sutton, 89, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022. She leaves two
daughters, Judy Beauchamp and Sharon O'Dell; son Rick Nicolson; son-in-law Carvel O'Dell;
10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; best friend Millie Gulden, and many wonderful
friends and caregivers, including Cyndi, Rae, and Tain. She was preceded in death by her
parents, three sisters, four brothers, son Buddy (Stan) Nicolson, daughters Colleen Hatrock and
Lisa Shaeffer, son-in-law Ron Beauchamp, and grandson David Beauchamp.
Millie married Stan Nicolson in 1948 and they had four beautiful children during their time
together (Judy, Colleen, Buddy, and Sharon); she found love again and brought two more
beautiful children into the world, her daughter, Lisa, and son, Rick.
A life-long resident of Post Falls, Idaho, Millie attended night classes to obtain her GED and
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from North Idaho College. From then on, she
became a steadfast advocate for the care of seniors, particularly Alzheimer's patients while
working at several senior care facilities in Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. As her career
progressed, she worked tirelessly for the rights and protection of seniors becoming their voice
and representative while working as an assistant Ombudsman volunteer for six years.
Millie will always be remembered for her wonderful laugh, kindness for those less fortunate,
and her endless energy. Her adoration of family knew no bounds. She believed in helping
others and was providing support and care for memory-challenged seniors right up to the time
she passed. For fun, Millie loved to play Bingo and was a regular at the Post Falls Senior Center
enjoying lunch with staff and friends. Her passing leaves behind many broken hearts.
If flowers grow in heaven,
Lord, then pick a bunch for me.
Then place them in my mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Memorials may be made in Millie's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or
charity of your choice.
