Michael O'Kelly (71) of Rathdrum, Idaho passed away August 7, 2012 in Coeur d' Alene, ID. He was born October 24, 1940 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Cloyd & Alice (Sward) O'Kelly. Michael was a man of adventure and one who enjoyed every opportunity to see the white knuckles and looks of terror on family and friends' faces as he took them out with his 4 X 4. He loved the mountains and nature, it was there that he felt free from the cares of the world. One of his favorite hobbies was hunting and fishing, and it was something that he taught his children how to do. Michael loved his family and enjoyed every opportunity to spend with them. He loved his wife of over 49 years, Marilyn, and together raised 3 beautiful children, Brenda Annette O'Kelly, Wendy Ann O'Kelly and Michael Ray O'Kelly, whom he is survived by all. He is also survived by his 2 brothers, Tim & Pat O'Kelly, 2 grandchildren, Michael Jr O'Kelly, Rebecca Rutledge and great granddaughter Shailey Rutledge.Michael will definitely be missed and we will all remember the many good times we all had with you.
Welcome Home
When I am gone, release me, let me go-
I have so many things to see and do.
You musn't tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave to you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown.
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless with memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile, and "Welcome Home"
