Mercedes Triana Garcia, 45, of Cottonwood, Idaho passed away November 10, 2015 at the Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho. Mercedes was born December 8, 1969 in Key West, Florida to Edward and Julie (Carreno) Garcia.
Mercedes grew up in Key West, where she attended Key West High School. There she also met Charles Bear and they married May 11, 1995. They were later divorced. She eventually moved to Colorado in 2000. There she attended Trinidad College where she earned a degree in massage therapy in 2006. She lived and worked in Colorado for twelve years before moving to Idaho in 2014 to be near her family especially her grandchildren.
She loved spending time with her family, She is known as “mom” to many, not just her own children, and will be remembered as an amazing cook. She also enjoyed bingo, and helping others serving as a volunteer for the Salvation Army, as a board member for the American Red Cross, and as a youth leader for the Colorado based youth organization Helping Hands.
Mercedes is survived by her mother Julie H. Garcia of Crystal River, Florida; three daughters Julie Garcia (Eric Jones) of Grangeville, Idaho, Samantha Garcia (Jimmy Murphy) of Grangeville, Idaho, and Jessica Bear of Cottonwood, Idaho; five grandchildren Elyssa, Clint Jr., Venecia, Hunter, and Lillie, six brothers Rudy Garcia of Virginia, Steve Birtzer of Florida, Quentin Garcia of Florida, Dario Garcia of California, Eddy Garcia of Hawaii, and Paul Garcia of Florida; two nephews E.J., and Daniel; and two Nieces Georgia Lee, and Kayla. She was preceded in death by her father on November 23, 2010.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Colorado.
