Maureen Fay Foster of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho was called home to forever be with the Lord on February 17th, 2022. She was 86 years old and passed peacefully and without pain at the Schneidmiller House at Hospice of North Idaho.
Maureen was born on October 8th, 1935, to Herbert and Mary Bahr in Gillett, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her father was a cheesemaker, and she grew up in the rural areas of central Wisconsin.
After graduating from Iola Highschool in 1953, Maureen attended Bethany Lutheran Bible College in Minnesota, where she earned a teaching degree. Shortly after finishing college, Maureen moved to California to teach elementary grade classes at a Lutheran school.
Maureen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to her beloved husband, Gary in 1969. She and Gary were blessed with two sons and four grandchildren.
Maureen was kind and very thoughtful. She would often go out of her way to be considerate of others and was always troubled to be thought of as a burden to anyone else. She was warm and caring, always ready with a warm hug and a cheerful word of encouragement. She had an optimistic spirit and would always “look on the bright side” of things. She lived a life that reflected the hope and light that lived within her.
Maureen enjoyed playing music on piano and had fond memories of her time spent singing in a travelling choir. She was a dedicated mom who always supported her sons’ many athletic endeavors. She was also very skilled and greatly enjoyed needle crafts, especially cross stitching. She had a love of reading and always had many books close at hand.
After the boys were raised and out of the house, Maureen and her husband, Gary began a series of travel adventures which she truly enjoyed. She and Gary travelled the world, often with friends and family. Europe, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Central America, and nearly all parts of the U.S. were places that she and Gary visited.
Maureen loved the Lord and would often express gratitude and thanksgiving for the many blessings that He had gifted to her. She absolutely loved the celebrations of Christmas and Easter and always cherished those times when the family would be together.
Maureen is survived by her sons, David (Sonya) Foster, Scott (Stacey) Foster, brother Rod Bahr, sister Nadine Ross, and grandchildren Owen, Anna, Matthew, and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary, her father and mother, brother Vernon (Bud) Bahr, and sister Ruth Koehler.
