Mary Hooten

May 16, 1939 — January 6, 2013

Mary Jean Hooten Born on May 16th 1939 to Joe and Helen Alvernaz, passed away in a" Room Full of Love" at her home on Jan 6, 2013 at 12:30 pm. Mary Jean was one of five children, three sisters and one brother. Helen was the oldest, then Hilda and Mary Jean, with Rosy being the baby girl. All the girls were very close in age, I'm sure that my grandparents had their hands full. Joe Jr, known to all of us as just Jr. was the only boy and the baby of the family. Mary Jean married Vernon Hooten, and they created me and my two brothers. Billy Joe, known to everyone as Breswer and Shannon Udell, known to everyone as Tuffy. Each where given a nick name by my dad and these have stuck with the boys their entire life. Kinda like a boy named Sue, my dad had a way with the nick names. We were all a very close family spending lots of wonderful hours at our grandparents house, this just seemed to be the place to congregate. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins this was a place where everyone was welcome. Many wonderful memories where made at grandpa and grandma's house. Mary was blessed with five granddaughters. My three daughters, Jeanna Rush, Bridget Jensen and Megan Jensen Tuffy's two daughters, Trisha Grey and Ashley Hooten. She was so proud of all the girls and missed Tuffy, Trisha and Ashley very much. Mom and I always agreed how blessed we were for the times she cheated death and theRE were many, each time became a little more special. I should thank my grandchildren for this, Mary's great grandchildren; Tanner-13, Mason-7, Rylee-4 and Bentlee 2 it was these guys that kept her laughing and needing more hugs. Growing up in the Central Coast area of California for most of her life coming all the way up here to North Idaho where it snows seemed quite the adventure. Easy for her to say as I was shoveling the driveway. She would fear for her life driving back from that casino at four in the morning through a snow storm, but that never seemed to stop us.wow will I miss mama! Mary was very blessed through the last hours of her life. She was nice and cozy and surrounded by all of us who loved her. My daughters Jeanna and Bridget, both CNA's were able to make these last moments beautiful for all of us.
