Mark Hampe was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and a profoundly loyal friend. In Mark’s presence, you could always feel his genuine compassion and love radiating all around. He was the life of the party without being the center of it – making sure everyone was fed and had a drink in hand. Mark loved life to the fullest and never took a moment for granted.
Mark was born in Taipei, Taiwan on May 20th 1974 to Robert and Mei Hampe, spending the first few years there surrounded and spoiled by his Mother’s family. By the time Mark was ready for school, his family had settled in Great Falls, Montana. Some of his best high school memories were of playing football, or “Friday night lights” as he fondly referred to it. After high school he headed off to Missoula, Montana. His passion for football continued there as he proudly played for the University of Montana, Grizzles throughout college. Mark’s love for the Griz never faltered and he spent many Saturdays cheering them on from the sidelines.
After college, Mark eventually settled in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where began his career in banking and eventually met the love of his life, Nancy. In 2019, Mark left the banking world to further continue his devotion of helping others and expanding his outreach to the community by becoming the Chief Financial Officer for Heritage Health. His unwavering belief in their mission helped to bring stability to the organization and fueled their growth. Mark’s legacy is interwoven into the very fabric of not only Heritage Health, but to his community as well.
Mark unexpectedly passed away at home in the arms of his adoring wife on July 7th, 2023, due to complications from cancer. Mark was a fighter; he was courageous and truly never complained as his disease progressed. Mark never gave up hope for the dream of living out his retirement days with his beloved wife… and playing golf. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Hailey, mother Mei, mother-in-law Kathryn, sister Jamie, sister in-laws Pam, Roxanne and Toni, Brother in-laws Mike, Dan, Curt and Keith as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close-knit group of friends.
The family will be holding a funeral on July 14th at 1pm at the Bell Tower Funeral Home in Post Falls, Idaho. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2pm at Alt’s Copperhouse in Post Falls. Please join us at one or both.
His presence enriched our lives, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.
