Marie “Moriah” Szakara of Post Falls, passed away to be with the Lord on April 10th, 2024. Born in Puerto Rico, on February 25th, 1925. Moriah married John Szakara who was a Chief Warrant Officer in the Coast Guard and lived in Michigan for many years. Eventually, they moved to San Diego where they adopted two boys, John and Glenn. Moriah did many things in her life, bookkeeping, bar owner, mother, baker, and handywoman. If there was work to be done on the house, Moriah was doing it. Up on ladders painting, digging trenches for irrigation, working on the landscape. Moriah was a very smart woman, not afraid to tackle any task. At 80 years old after her husband passed away, she started a new adventure in Post Falls, ID. Knowing no one and having no family there she bought a house and started over. Being a devout Christian and joining churches wherever she moved, she quickly made friends. Her friends would describe her as ‘Feisty”. She certainly left an impression wherever she went. As her memory failed in her latter years, her feistiness and love for the Lord never ended.
