Marguerite Lucini, a nine-year resident of Ellensburg, passed away January 29, 2018 at Hearthstone Assisted Living in Ellensburg, Washington. Marguerite was born May 25, 1928 in Poona, India to British parents.
Marguerite spent her early childhood years in India where her father worked as an engineer, traveling often to London to spend time with her grandmother. She and her family later returned to Worthing, Sussex where she completed her education and later joined the WRNS (Women’s Royal Naval Service). During her years as a “Wren,” she worked decoding messages during wartime. After the war, Marguerite immigrated to the United States, first to New York and later making her way to California. There Marguerite met John R. Winans and they were later married. John passed away from illness in 1972. She later met Guido “Red” Lucini and they were married until Red’s passing in 1981 in Reno, Nevada.
Marguerite loved her faith and was very involved in the Catholic Church throughout her life. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed reading, visiting, and listening to music.
Marguerite is survived by her son, Steve Winans of Reno, Nevada; daughter, Melissa (Blaine) Bennett of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; stepdaughter, Ann Lucini-Williams of Boise, Idaho, and seven grandchildren. She will be forever lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, and extended family and dear friends.
A Mass will be held Saturday, February 10th at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 E. Indiana Avenue, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
