September 2, 1971 — March 11, 2024

Big Lou "Louis Garfield" York, age 52, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on March 11, 2024.
Lou was born on September 2, 1971, in Sacramento, California, to Joseph York, Sr. and the late
Bonnie Rose Cowan.

Lou was a beloved husband to Julie, a cherished father to son Jake and stepson Sean, a doting
grandfather to Leiia, Scarlet, and Emerald, and a mentor to Torie Bogni and the late Jolie
Fitchett. He was a loving brother to Joseph Jr., and he was a devoted son.

Lou was loved by his late father-in-law Arthur Pickle and survived by his mother-in-law, Pina
Pickle.

Lou was also survived by his nephews, Jacen, Justen, and Joseph Louis; niece Madison Rose;
uncles Michael, Joe, Bob, and James Cowan; numerous cousins; his California family: the
Solis', the Rubalcavas, the Ortiz's, and the Delgado's; friends who were considered family; his
beloved animals Mr. Biggs, Lilypad, Maximus Aurelious York, and all of his adopted feline
friends.

In his professional life, Lou was a skilled Journeyman Mason, possessing a level of certification
that showcased his dedication and expertise in masonry. He began his career at the age of 24
and was a proud member of the Carpenters Local 22 Union in San Francisco, CA, as well as
the Laborers Local 261 Union in San Francisco, CA, and the Laborers Local 238 Union in
Spokane, WA. Lou also held an OSHA certification to operate lift equipment and was employed
with Pyramid Masonry at the time of his passing.
Outside of work, Lou was a free-spirited individual who enjoyed drawing, writing, reading,
listening to music, gardening, cliff jumping, time in the water, and spending quality time with his
loved ones, especially his granddaughters. He was known for his humor, courage, and outgoing
nature, always making those around him feel welcome and cherished. He was always himself,
he was authentic with a heart of gold. There is no one like him. He welcomed anyone into his
home with open arms.

Lou found solace and passion in worshipping at the altar of the San Francisco 49ers, a team he
adored. His dedication to his hobbies and interests reflected his vibrant and spontaneous
personality.
