Larry L. Louck II

October 5, 1950 — December 8, 2024

Republic

Lawrence (Larry) Leon Louck JR of Republic, Washington died at his home December 8, 2024 at age 74, following a challenging two years of metastatic melanoma treatment.

Larry was born October 5, 1950, to Lawerence Leon Louck SR and Lorraine Faulk Louck in Port Angeles, Washington where he was raised along with his four siblings, attended school and worked for some time at Rainier Paper mill alongside his Dad before moving to Port Townsend, Washington as an older teen. He proceeded to be hired at the Port Townsend Crown Zellerbach Papermill in 1968 where he worked as a millwright mechanic and served as a union representative until he retired in 2005 at the young age of 55 years.

Shortly after moving to Port Townsend, Larry met Catherine (Cathy) Logue and they were married in 1971 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, made their home and raised their two children, Karen Louck and Lonny Louck.

Upon retirement from Port Townsend Papermill in 2005, Larry and Cathy purchased their dream lake view property in Republic, Washington where they continued to reside and cultivate community for nearly 20 years. When Larry wasn’t working at his part time position with the US Forrest Service, he enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, working in his shop, fishing and boating on Lake Curlew and especially enjoyed traveling back to the west side of the state to camp at the Pacific Ocean coast. He was an avid motorcyclist from a very young age and continued to put many miles on his two wheelers along with Cathy and cycling friends for the majority of his life until his health deteriorated. Larry also enjoyed traveling on ocean luxury cruises with Cathy in his retirement years, seeming to make new friends from across the globe with each trip they took.

Formally, Larry took pride in donating his time and skills through volunteer work at the Republic Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and membership with the Republic Fraternal Order of Eagles in his later years. Informally, Larry was known for most of his life to regularly pull up a chair at a favorite local restaurant or brewery to enthusiastically share stories amongst friends and strangers who would become friends. His favorite ‘watering holes’ as he liked to refer to them, were The Bayview and Lighthouse Cafés in Port Townsend and later, Pine Grove and Republic Brewery. He also took pride in helping his neighbors and friends whenever and wherever he saw the need, right up until his health required him to turn toward his own end- of- life needs. His final act of kindness before he left this earth, was his gift of donating his body to the Willed Body Program at Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University.

Larry leaves behind his devoted wife Catherine Louck of 53 years, daughter Karen Worline, her husband Ben and their three grown children Abby, Jess and Andrew as well as his son Lonny Louck, married to Carla Estrada Louck.

Surviving siblings include brothers Jay Pemberton, Joseph Louck and John Louck and Sister Kathryn Kalla, married to Marc Kalla.

A funeral mass and reception will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Republic, Washington in April 2025, and a Celebration of Life will be held Summer 2025 on the Olympic Peninsula.

The Louck / Worline families wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Spokane Hospice and the Bauer Family for their coordination and support with Larry’s end-of-life care.

Cheers to a full, well-lived and well-loved life Larry – Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother and generous friend to many!
