b. January 17, 1943

GUTHRIE, Larry Lee, (Age 70) - Long time Spokane area resident, passed away in his home on Saturday, June 22nd. Larry was born on January 17th, 1943 in Spokane to Ralph and Gertrude Guthrie. He graduated from Central Valley High School then started his higher education at Wenatchee Community College where he played football and studied business. He transferred to Gonzaga University and graduated in 1966 with a major in Economics. Larry married MaryAnn Burmester in 1964 and had two sons, Michael and Jon, and a daughter, Suzanne. Larry had his third son, Danyon, in 1994 with Annemarie Lewis. He started his career in building homes while in college raising his family. Over the years he became successful in land, residential, and commercial development and construction. He also owned and operated mini-storage facilities and a chain of convenience stores. Larry set up scholarship programs for nursing at Central Valley High School and Gonzaga University in honor of his mother Gertrude. Like his father, he was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America. He loved water skiing, swimming, and boating at Newman Lake. Other interests were snow skiing, hunting, fishing, running Bloomsday, and Gonzaga basketball. He is survived by his son Michael and wife Trina of Kennewick, his second son Jon and wife Cathey of Spirit Lake, his daughter Suzanne of Spokane Valley, and his youngest son Danyon of Colbert; his grandsons Nathan, Nicholas, and Chase; his two younger brothers Steve Guthrie of Bellevue, WA, and Rick Guthrie of Bothell, WA. Larry will be remembered for his love and devotion to his children and his generosity to the community. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 PM, on Friday, June 28th, at Eastpoint Church, 15303 E. Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley, WA, with paster Kurt Bubna officiating.
