Kathleen Marie Buterbaugh passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021, at Hospice House of Spokane. The youngest of three children, Kathy was born May 2, 1937, in Spokane, WA to Arthur Fintel and Marie Vorderstrasse Fintel. Due to her dad working in construction, the young family lived various places in Washington before settling in Hermiston, Oregon.
Kathy graduated from Hermiston High School. Following high school, she trained to be a flight attendant. In the late 1950's, her dad found work in Glasgow, MT building the new airbase. It was there that she met an airman, Ralph Buterbaugh. They married in Glasgow on December 1, 1959. Ralph continued to serve in the Air Force until retirement. They settled in Centralia, WA where they built a beautiful home on several acres. Ralph passed away July 12, 1995, and Kathy decided to move to Idaho and had a home built in Post Falls.
Kathy was a very independent and artistic woman. She kept busy baking, crafting, gardening, and taking care of her dogs. Her church, Christ the King Lutheran, was very important to her and she regularly attended services there.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Robert, and Marvin. She is survived by her sister-in-law and three nieces and their families.
A memorial service at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d' Alene will be at a later date followed by a private burial in Walla Walla, WA.
