Joseph D. Toombs

March 14, 1975 — December 17, 2024

Joseph D. Toombs, affectionately known as Joe, was born on March 14, 1975, in Spokane, Washington. He departed this world on December 17, 2024, in Post Falls, having bravely battled Crohn's disease for many years. Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and warmth felt by all who knew him.

Joe's journey was marked by his unwavering commitment to family and his passion for the great outdoors. He found joy in camping, hiking, fishing, and cheering at races, where his enthusiasm was infectious. Throughout his life, Joe served his country honorably by joining the Air Force, showcasing his dedication and courage until he was medically discharged.

In his professional life, Joe worked diligently for Hatfield Trucking for five years, where his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor made a lasting impression on his colleagues. However, it was in his role as a devoted husband and father that he truly shined.

On February 26, 1994, Joe married the love of his life, Heather Fuehrer, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Together, they created a beautiful family filled with love and laughter. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Heather Toombs, and their cherished children: son Corey Fuehrer and daughter Vanessa Toombs. Joe reveled in the joy of being a grandfather to five precious grandsons, and he adored his daughter-in-law, Samantha Fuehrer, who brought additional light to his life.

He is also survived by his parents, Don and Eunice Toombs, and his Brothers Christopher Toombs and David Toombs.

A memorial service to honor Joe’s life will be held on January 8, 2025, at the Bell Tower Funeral Home and Crematory - Post Falls Chapel, located at 3398 E. Jenalan Avenue, Post Falls, ID, beginning at 1:00 PM.

Joe's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His kindness, laughter, and love for adventure have left a profound mark, and though he may no longer walk among us, his memory will continue to inspire and warm our hearts. May you rest in peace, dear Joe, as you embark on your next great adventure.
