John Emory Mullins

John Emory Mullins, 89, of Rathdrum, Idaho passed away April 18, 2016 at his home. John was born April 5, 1927 in Bristol, Connecticut to Francis and Alfema (Gaudreau) Mullins. John grew up in Bristol and as a young man joined the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean War. After his honorable discharged John returned to Bristol where he worked for Guida Dairy as the local milk man for many years and also had a printing business with his brother. There he met Marion “Pinkie” Peterson and they were later married January 26, 1952 in Bristol, Connecticut. They were married for 63 wonderful years. Together they raised their family in Plainville Connecticut, and after their retirement they moved to North Idaho to be near their children and grandchildren. John was a lifetime member of the Elks Club in Bristol Connecticut, and enjoyed golfing, driving his golf cart and visiting with his friends. He loved having coffee at McDonalds in Rathdrum. The staff treated him so well and they were very special to him. He enjoyed watching his favorite basketball team U Conn, traveling and making road trips with his family, and especially going to Maui. John is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Pinkie of the family home in Rathdrum, Idaho; one son Jay Mullins of Rathdrum, Idaho; one daughter Jill Ettner of Post Falls, Idaho; one brother Robert Mullins of Plantsville, Connecticut; one sister June Wortcheck of New Britain, Connecticut, and two grandchildren Tyler and Ryan Ettner. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Leonard and Francis Mullins. John appreciated all the blessings in his life. He expressed his happiness to be living in beautiful Idaho frequently. He truly enjoyed each lake view, sunset, meal and season. A Celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Golden Spike Estates Club House, 8580 West Yosemite St. Rathdrum, ID. Pastor Rodney Wright will be officiating the service.
