John E. Geren
John Geren, age 66, passed away on January 6, 2013. He was born in Tacoma, WA on May 18, 1946 to Ernest and Palma Geren. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jan; son Justin Fisher (Theresa); grandchildren Julien and Tenley; sister Judy Mustain (Larry); nephew Brent. John graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Puget Sound. He worked as a parole and probation officer until his retirement in 2001.John was a passionate man with a variety of interests, which included: classic cars, music and concerts, football, boating, duck hunting and fishing. His knowledge and enjoyment of antiques and collectables was unique. More than anything, he loved his family deeply.In May of 2011 John realized his retirement dream when he and Jan moved to their new home in Sandpoint, ID. Although his retirement adventures were cut short, he was able to enjoy the peaceful beauty of north Idaho and life on the river. He found great joy in the frequent visits of family and friends. John fought diligently to control his diabetes and heart disease, but was unable to battle the stroke that took his life. He will be interned at a private ceremony at Tahoma National Cemetery, and a celebration of John's life will be held in Tacoma, WA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Ducks Unlimited
