John Winton Dare, beloved husband, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on January 12, 2021 at the age of 75. John was born in Springfield, Missouri on August 17 1945 to George and Frankie Jane Dare. John was a 1963 graduate of Marshfield High School.
John married the love of his life, Ann Spellman, on May 2, 1964. They enjoyed 56 years together in Springfield, Missouri and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
John worked for City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri for 35 years as a lineman and collector. Following his retirement, John worked for Obert Furniture in Republic, Missouri where he loved going every day to help in any way needed.
In addition to being a hard-working family man, John dedicated time to local community organizations in Springfield. He was a member of IBEW Local 453, Springfield, Missouri, Ozark Empire Kiwanis Club, and the Democratic Alliance and Greene County Democratic Party.
John always had a sparkle in his eyes, a ready smile, and an easy going nature which was appreciated by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Ann Dare, a daughter, Debbie (Russ) Christensen (Post Falls, Idaho), his grandchildren , Tyler (Kelly) Christensen (Grand Rapids, Michigan), Emily (Micah) Lukas (Peoria, Arizona), his great-grandson, born on John’s Birthday in 2020, Wilbur Mack Lukas, (Peoria, Arizona), his brother-in-law, David Spellman (St. Louis, Missouri), brothers Gary Lee (Kai) Dare (Eagle Rock, Missouri), and Larry Wayne (Brenda) Dare (Conway, Missouri), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John appreciated special friend Scott Obert and the Obert Family.
