John William “Jack” Burke, 81, of Post Falls, ID, went home to be with Jesus on December 11th, 2018. Jack passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Jack was born in Everett, WA to Michael J. Burke and Jean T. Burke (Baisley) on October 3, 1937. He was baptized into the Catholic faith and remained a believer throughout his life. He went to high school at Ballard High School and graduated in 1954. He worked and retired from Union Pacific Railroad. Jack served in the Army and was even a top bowler on the Army bowling league.
Jack lived much of his life in the Seattle area and then retired to Post Falls, ID in his final years to be closer to his daughter, granddaughter, and great grandchildren. Jack had a big heart and loved to help people when he could. Jack loved to take annual trips to Las Vegas when he was able. His final trip to Las Vegas was a road trip with his daughter and son-in-law Lance. His interests included golf, bowling, music (especially Frank Sinatra), watching NCIS, and his Siamese cat Ding.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Laurel Burke Drapeau and son-in-law, Lance Drapeau of Hauser, ID. Lance and Laurel loving cared for Jack during his last years. Jack is also survived by his granddaughter Jamie Gilbertz and her husband Steve, great grandchildren Ashlyn Wetzler, Teagan Wetzler, and Emily Gilbertz, sister Mary Lou Burke of St. Louis, MO, 3 nieces, and 2 nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his grandson Bradley Reimers and is now reunited with him in heaven. Jack will be missed by all.
