John W. Booth (Jack), was born on November 7th, 1929, and died September 8, 2011, with complications of congestive heart and renal failure. One of five children of Cliff & Vi Booth in Oakland, CA. The family moved to the Los Angeles area when Jack was eight, he attended several grammar schools and graduated from South Gate HS in 1947.
After high school, he entered the carpenter apprentice program and worked as a journeyman carpenter until he was drafted into the Army. He served and was wounded in Korea, spent 9 months in several hospitals and was honorably discharged with a purple heart.
He met and married Peg Flora in 1954, returned to school and worked in both California and Washington as a Mechanical and Electrical engineer until he was 75. God blessed he & Peg with 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters. They were also privileged to help raise a nephew. Jack was a convert to the Catholic faith which he remained faithful to until his death.
Jack volunteered as a little league coach for many years, coaching his sons and even some grandsons. He was a volunteer 4-H leader for over 15 years. Jack always felt it important to be involved in the things that interested his children.
Jack was an avid reader with a great memory and was the family search engine before Google and Yahoo.
Jacks main loves were his family, his faith, his country and his job. He loved vacationing with the whole family and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in his death by his parents, one brother, one sister, a son-in-law and a granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Peg, at the home , four sons and their wives, Todd & Sue, Matt & Leanne, Sean & Christine all of Post Falls, and Scott & Shannon of Spokane, WA. Three daughters and their husbands, Kerri & Butch Ost, Beth & Jeff Berger of Post Falls, Staci & Mark Huffman of Rathdrum, 48 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and his nephew Rob & Lisa of Slaton Sea, CA.
He was very loved by his family and will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
Rosary Service will be held Monday September 12, 2011 at 7:00 pm at Bell Tower Funeral Home in Post Falls @ 3398 E. Jenalan Avenue. A private burial will be on Tuesday, September 13 at the Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA. A reception for friends and family will be held Tuesday September 13, at the Grand Pavilion at Quemlin Park beginning at 5:00 p.m.
