Jeanne Marie Zapfe, 70, of Rathdrum, Idaho passed January 27, 2017 at her home. Jeanne was
born September 17, 1946 in Longview, Washington to William and Margaret (Morton) Capen.
During her childhood years, Jeanne lived in Portland Oregon and then as a teenager moved with
her family to Condon, Oregon where she attended and graduated from High School. Jeanne met
Jospeh H Zapfe Sr. and they were later married in January of 1965. Together they moved to
northern Kentucky where they raised their three sons. They were married 13 years when Joseph
passed away April 12, 1978.
In December of 1978 Jeanne moved to Spokane, Washington, and later Blanchard, Idaho before
moving across the country to Florida where she lived for nine years. She eventually made her
way back to North Idaho settling in Rathdrum.
Jeanne worked as a beautician in both Blanchard and Florida. She attended Rathdrum Bible
Church, and was a member of Gold Star Mothers. She enjoyed playing card and board games,
she was a movie buff, and also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and doing various arts and crafts.
She is survived by two sons Joe (Laura) Zapfe of Priest River, Idaho, and Ed (Delisa) Zapfe of
Rathdrum, Idaho; one daughter in law Coneita Zapfe of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two brothers
William (Gloria) Wood of Spokane, Washington, and Stuart (Linda) Peterson of Beaverton,
Oregon; one sister Shelley (Ken) Strong of Orlando, Florida; her parents William and Margaret
Capen of Post Falls, Idaho; five nieces, three nephews, and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Bill in June of 2007.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 3:00 PM at
Rathdrum Bible Church 15127 Stevens St. Rathdrum, Idaho 83858.
