Jay Franklin Jensen (87) passed away March 5, 2013 of natural causes in Coeur d'Alene, ID. He was born November 12, 1925 in Holladay, UT to Franklin Peter Jensen and Marvel Elise McCleery. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Granite High in Salt Lake City and served in the military in Korea for two years. After returning from Korea he met Lola Julia Cook. They were married on June 1, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Jay worked for the Rio Grande Railroad as an electrician. He retired after 45 years. He loved being retired and he and Lola had fun doing many things. Jay had many interest. He loved to work in his yard, camping, fishing and hiking. He was an amazing oil painter, photographer, wood carver and inventor. He served in many callings in the church including scouting, High Priest Group Leader Temple Worker. He was a loving and supportive father and an amazing grandfather and great grandfather. Jay and Lola moved to Coeur d'Alene in 2009 to be closer to family but Salt Lake was always their home along with the Butler 17th ward.
Jay is survived by his wife Lola, son Lynn (Lee) of Kennewick WA, daughter Karen Seely (Glen) of Coeur d'Alene, sister Claudine Despain, brother Kay Robert Jensen, 7 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS church, 407 E. Honeysuckle Ave, Hayden, ID on Saturday March 16 at 10am (viewing 9am). Interment will be at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 Government Way.
