Jannette Ilene Taylor

Jannette Ilene (Forsyth) Taylor, was born December 20, 1951 in Sydney, Montana to John R. and Agnes G. Forsyth. Jannette has two surviving siblings; Carol and Robert. On Jannette's first birthday she received her sister Carol. In 1956 her "little brother" Robert was born. Jannette's mother always joked "I wanted to name the kids Little Shit #1 and so on..." Jannette and her family moved from Sidney, Montana to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1961, where the family lived in several locations. Jannette always had a passion for horses throughout her teens and young adult life. Jannette as a teen was a member of 4-H and later became a youth leader in the 4-H. Jannette started working for Bob Templin at the Templin's Resort which is now Independence Point and later worked for the Hagedon Corporation in various capacities. In addition, Jannette was also employed as a cook for North Idaho College. In 1970, Jannette married David and the produced two daughters, Nicoline, born in 1974 and Mary, who was born in 1976. As a young married, couple, Jannette and Dave lived in Spirit Lake, Idaho, and tried their hand at owning and operating an animal feed store. They later sold out and moved their family to Worley, Idaho in 1983. Jannette work miscellaneous jobs from 1983 to 1992 to support her family. In 1992, Jannette was offered a job with the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. She took the job and moved to Plummer. While working for the Tribe, Jannette held various positions. She was a cook for the Elders Program, worked in Department of Education, dealing with JTPA and Youth Jobs. She was also involved in the growth of Tribal Child Care Services a.k.a. ECLC. When Jannette left her employment with the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, she was working for Social Services as the TANF Coordinator. Jannette proudly served on Plummer City Council and as Fire Commissioner. Throughout Jannette's life, she was known to open her home to those in need of a safe place to stay or a family home setting. Jannette was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand. Many individuals commented on social media posts how loving and caring Jannette was. Many commenters said Jannette was like their second mother. There were always friends of the kids at the house. Any of the kids knew they could stop by for a bite to eat if they were hungry, a place to sleep or just somewhere where they would have someone who would listen to what they had to say. During Pow-wow season, people always knew they could atop by Jannette's camp for a grilled cheese sandwich. After retirement, Jannette was known to have a mini farm at her place in Plummer, where her grandson, Johnathan, had chickens, geese and ducks. Jannette ensured Johnathan's animals were always a bit spoiled. In 2015 Jannette moved back to Coeur d'Alene with her service dog Cops. Later in 2017 she moved to Post Falls. Jannette was always a caring person, offering assistance and care to those in need. When Jannette didn't have people to take care of you could always find her puttering around and enlarging her garden space in front of her apartment. During the Year of Covid, Jannette successfully got her grandson through the 6th grade!!! All online!!! During that year she developed an interest in Hermit Crabs as a science project for Jon's online class. From 2 crabs in a 10-gallon tank to 10 in a 75-gallon tank. On April 27, 2021, Jannette had heart surgery which required a lengthy recovery period. Over the last couple months Jannette was excited to be cleared for driving again. On February 1, 2022, Jannette went to Kootenai Medical, where she was diagnosed with Covid and Influenza A. On February 10, 2022 approximately, 7:11 P.M., Jannette passed away, alone, surrounded by strangers in the medical profession, due to restrictions which only allowed one family member visit per day. Jannette is proceeded in death by her parents, John & Agnes Forsyth and her grandson Joseph Frank. She is survived by her sister Carol, her brother Robert, children Nicoline and Mary, her grandchildren Xavier, Logan, Ororo, Phenix, Johnathan and Kensi. On the tables in front of you, you'll find houses and items from Jannette's Christmas Village Collection, it was her wish that anyone wishing to take one or more, if available, home with them.
