A life well lived, Hugh Lloyd Coleman January 16, 1928 - January 11, 2017 Jesus called this most wonderful man to join the ranks of those in heaven last Wednesday morning! He was mercifully freed from the chains of Alzheimer's and passed quietly with his wife by his side just five days shy of his 89th birthday. Lloyd was unique in many ways and was honored and respected in every area of his life, loved by family and friends. He served faithfully in WWII and the Korean War, after which he studied to attain a college degree that was the foundation of his career in industrial cryogenics. Lloyd loved his work and put his whole heart and soul into it. His work ethic and integrity was his hallmark, early to arrive and the last to leave. Lloyd is the youngest of four boys born to Herschel Coleman and Mable Ormsby. His brothers Kenneth and Dave predeceased him but his oldest brother, George, (Gladys) of Sacramento is 95. Then there are nieces Connie Jusek (John), Diane Rae, Kristy Coleman and Colleen Coleman Holschouser and nephews, David and Dale Coleman. His only true hobby was most anything to do with airplanes, flying them especially. He owned several in his lifetime but after experiencing the high expense, chose to invest in home and family instead. He owned several businesses over the years but also spent many years with Airco Cryogenics when they were in Irvine, California and Mafi-Trench Atlas Copco in Santa Maria, California. Retiring was hard for him due to his love of work but each time, we came to beautiful North Idaho to live where we had family and soon developed a network of dear friends. April 6th, we would be celebrating 49 years of marriage. Our life together was full of a very special bond of love, energy and purpose. Coming to a saving knowledge of Christ in the early 70s, our relationship took a much deeper turn that led to a rich and rewarding 10 year ministry with The Central Coast Pregnancy Center in Santa Maria, California. Under their umbrella, we served together at Juvenile Hall, reaching out with love and truth to some very lost and hurting youth. We were active in our church in various ministries over the years and cherish those friendships. I'm thankful for Facebook that keep us informed and connected across the miles. Lloyd leaves behind, his wife, Ruthann Coleman and two beautiful daughters, Raylene Coleman of Portland, Oregon and Susan Coleman Cook, (Nick) of Bismarck, North Dakota. We have one son, Kevin Coleman of Hillsborough, North Carolina and a brother-in-law, Lyle Paciorek and his wife, Nancy in Rathdrum, Idaho. Our much loved grandchildren are Chris McCain (Hannah) with great-grands: Samuel and Shiloh, Aimee Charland (Matthew) with great-grands, Kayleigh and Alyssa, Austin Koerner, Nicole West (Andy) with great-grands, Judah, Benaiah, Josiah and Abigail, Anthony Cook, Benjamin Cook, Amanda Cook and Samuel Cook, Annabelle Coleman and our daughter-in-law, Wendy Coleman Iriberri and grandchildren Victoria and Joey of Santa Cruz, California. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Heather Gray, nurse/owner of Generations in Rathdrum and her very fine staff of caregivers who took such good care of him and of me during this time of grief. A memorial service will be on Thursday, January 19th at 2 PM at the Golden Spike clubhouse in Rathdrum, Idaho. Another memorial will be held in Santa Maria, California, to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation in Lloyd's name to the Central Coast Pregnancy Center in Santa Maria, California.
