It is with great sadness to announce Howard L. Wilcox of Coeur d’Alene, ID, born May 14, 1953, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2022 at Schneidmiller Hospice House surrounded by all the family who loved and adored him, after a long battle with multiple health issues.
Howard’s younger years were spent in Rose Lake and St. Maries, ID area where he enjoyed all it has to offer. He was also employed at the Potlatch Mill for over 30 years before having to take an early retirement due to his health issues.
In later years, he met his beloved wife, Tarice Wilcox, and were married shortly after in Hawaii, which was the beginning of their many travels and adventures they shared together. Howard and Tarice loved each other unconditionally, and vowed to take care of each other through sickness and in health, and that is what Tarice did until his body became too tired and went to be with our Lord.
Howard was liked and loved by all who met and knew him. There was nothing Howard liked better than an interesting conversation with a good (or new) friend. Howard loved having an engaging conversation with anyone.
Howard enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, gardening, and riding “The Witch'' (his Honda Valkyrie). He mostly enjoyed the simple things in life, and especially spending time with family. He was a wonderful grandfather to his three granddaughters of which he absolutely adored.
They share fond memories of him driving them to cheer practice, bike rides, fingernail painting, and movie dates.
Howard is survived by his wife Tarice Wilcox; daughters Erin Sanborn and her husband Eric of Post Falls, ID; Cheryl Yearout and her husband Jeff of St. Maries, ID; son Andrew Slatch of Spokane, WA; granddaughters Alexandra, Abigail, and Avery; and grandson Trent.
Howard is preceded in death by his mother Judy Wilcox and his son Howard Wilcox Jr.
In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made to Schneidmiller Hospice House located at 2290 W. Prairie Ave. Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815. Or to Real Life Ministries located at 1860 N. Cecil Rd. Post Falls, ID 83854.
The family would like to thank Real Life Ministries for the love and support Howard was given. They would also like to thank Pastor John Padula from the Altar Church for blessing Howard with the beautiful prayer as he walked the path to his home above.
There will be a Celebration of Life that will be held later in Spring.
