Herbert Melvin Miles was born to Robert and Cornelia (Korn) Miles in Webster Grove Missouri on January 13, 1922. He died of natural causes on August 12, 2013 at the age of 91, in Post Falls Idaho.
Herb was raised and attended school in Webster Grove Missouri. On September 10, 1940 Herb enlisted in the Armed Forces. He served in the CBI Theater during World War II. While stationed in Portland at the Army Air Base he met Darlene Russell, they were married on February 7, 1943. Herb and Darlene had two children, Nancy and Robert. They divorced in 1945.
Herb was honorably discharged from the service on October 15, 1948. He then went to work for Bonneville Power as a surveyor of power lines. While living and working in the Sandpoint Idaho area he met Edna Marie Reynolds Croken, the love of his life, they were married on December 24, 1948. Their love for each other was evident throughout their 64 years of marriage and when Herb passed
from this life his precious Marie was by his side.
In the late 1950's, after leaving Bonneville Power Company, Herb went to work for BMA selling life insurance. He and Marie moved to Missoula Montana while he worked for BMA and then Metropolitan Life until 1972 when they moved to Coeur D'Alene Idaho and Herb started his own Estate Planning business. He continued with that business until his retirement.
Herb was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Miles Alford in 2008 and his grandson William Alford in 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie, his son Robert Miles (Ann), 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
