Helen Watson Howell

January 22, 1955 — September 15, 2024

Coeur d' Alene

Helen Watson Howell, 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, on September 15, 2024.

Helen was born in Addiewell, Scotland, on January 22nd, 1955, to Susan and John Cowan. She was the 2nd of 8 children. When she was 19, she met the love of her life, Danny, in Belgium. They married in 1974 and welcomed their daughter, Sarah, into their home in 1984.

Nana, as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan. She never missed a game and could usually be found yelling at the TV during one. She was feisty but compassionate, loved caring for others, and could never turn away a stray cat. Her grandkids and great-grandkids brought so many smiles to her face. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed!

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Dan) Holden; grandchildren, Alex (Demi) LaRue, Jeffrey (Erika) Holden and Jason Holden; great-grandchildren, Blakelyn, Brinley, Amelia, Cade and Grayson; brothers, David (Heather) Cowan and Malcolm (Louise) Cowan; sisters, Grace Cowan, June Cowan and Susan (Johnny) Macarthur; and several nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind her best friend, Steven Williams; and many special friends from the Dollar Tree.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Howell; parents, John and Susan Cowan; and a brother, John Cowan.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, September 27th, at 1:30 PM, at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
