Glenn C. Birch passed away on January 31, 2024, in Spokane, WA, after bravely battling health challenges. He was born on August 12, 1937, in Rigby, Idaho. Glenn's passing is mourned by his loving family and friends, but brings solace knowing he is now free from pain and reunited with his beloved wife of 60 years.
Glenn's life was characterized by dedication and passion. He had a remarkable career working as an Aerospace Engineer at NASA, where he contributed to the historic achievement of putting men on the moon. Later in his career, he utilized his skills as a Weight and Balance Engineer for Boeing. His contributions in both roles were invaluable and earned him immense pride.
Education played a significant role in Glenn's life. After graduating from Rigby High School, he pursued further education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. This foundation of knowledge supported his successful career and allowed him to excel in his chosen field.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Glenn's most treasured role was that of a devoted husband and father. He was deeply committed to his family and showered them with love throughout his life. Glenn was a pillar of strength for his children, providing unwavering support and guidance in all aspects of their lives.
Glenn's faith held deep significance for him. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he actively served in various church positions over the years. His dedication to his religion was evident through his compassionate service towards others and his commitment to living a righteous life.
In his leisure time, Glenn indulged in two great passions: hunting and fishing. These outdoor activities allowed him to connect with nature while creating cherished memories with his children. Glenn's love for the wilderness permeated his family, and they shared countless adventures and stories that he joyfully recounted.
Glenn is survived by his children, Richard (Teresa) Birch, Linda (David) Edwards, and Lloyd Birch, along with his 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Shirley Birch. Glenn also leaves behind cherished memories with his parents, Clarence (Sylvia/Florence) Birch, his brothers Denton Birch, Dennis Birch, and Dean Birch.
Viewing will take place on February 11, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bell Tower Funeral Home and Crematory in Post Falls, ID. Another viewing will follow on February 12th from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the LDS Chapel in Spokane, WA. Service will begin at 10:30 AM. Finally, Glenn will be laid to rest during an interment ceremony at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane at 12:30 PM.
